Installing the CLIP agent back-end on z/OS

Install the CLIP agent back-end on z/OS®, so that you can use HCL OneTest™ API to record and virtualize CICS® COBOL/PL/I DB2® programs on z/OS.

Before you begin

Download the tools components named HCL OneTest API Agent for Db2 on z/OS and extract the contents to a temporary folder. For more information, see Installing and configuring the Compiled Language Interception Processor (CLIP).

About this task

This task is typically done by a z/OS systems administrator.

Procedure

  1. Pre-allocate target datasets. Customize the following sample job to pre-allocate target data sets to upload the code.
    //ALLOC    JOB jobcard
    //ALLOC    EXEC PGM=IEFBR14
    //LOAD     DD DSN=userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELOAD.XMIT,
    //            DISP=(NEW,CATLG),DSORG=PS,RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,
    //*           VOL=SER=vvvvvv,
    //            BLKSIZE=0,UNIT=SYSALLDA,SPACE=(TRK,(473,5))
    //LPA      DD DSN=userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELPA.XMIT,
    //            DISP=(NEW,CATLG),DSORG=PS,RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,
    //*           VOL=SER=vvvvvv,
    //            BLKSIZE=0,UNIT=SYSALLDA,SPACE=(TRK,(1,5))
    //SAMP     DD DSN=userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRESAMP.XMIT,
    //            DISP=(NEW,CATLG),DSORG=PS,RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,
    //*           VOL=SER=vvvvvv,
    //            BLKSIZE=0,UNIT=SYSALLDA,SPACE=(TRK,(3,5))
  2. Use FTP to transfer the XMIT files in the temporary folder to MVS™ on the z/OS system.
    1. Using the command line on the system where you extracted the files, go to the temporary folder.
    2. Enter the following command:

      ftp hostname

    3. Enter your MVS TSO user ID and password.
    4. Enter the following commands:
      bin
      quote site CYL PRI=2 SEC=2 recfm=fb lrecl=80 blksize=3200
      put RIT.HRVD870.HRELOAD.XMIT 'userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELOAD.XMIT'
      put RIT.HRVD870.HRELPA.XMIT 'userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELPA.XMIT'
      put RIT.HRVD870.HRESAMP.XMIT 'userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRESAMP.XMIT' 
      where userid is your TSO user ID.
  3. Unpack the data set.
    1. Under ispf (option 6), open the TSO command window. Then, enter the following command:

      receive indsn('userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELOAD.XMIT')

    2. When prompted for the restore parameters, enter the following text:

      dsn('userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELOAD')

    3. Enter the following command:

      receive indsn('userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELPA.XMIT')

    4. When prompted for the restore parameters, enter the following text:

      dsn('userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELPA')

    5. Enter the following command:

      receive indsn('userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRESAMP.XMIT')

    6. When prompted for the restore parameters, enter the following text:

      dsn('userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRESAMP')

    Three data sets are created with names in the following format:
    • userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELOAD
    • userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRELPA
    • userid.RIT.HRVD870.HRESAMP
