Publishing test results to Unified Reporting

The test result indicates the quality of the application under test. Different stakeholders to the application might want to check the quality of application but do not have HCL OneTest API installed. As a user of HCL OneTest API, you can publish the test result reports to Unified Reporting dashboard so that others can view it from the web browser.

Before you begin

  • You must have installed HCL Quality Server server on any machine and started it. For more information about HCL Quality Server server, see Administering HCL Quality Server.
  • If the HCL Quality Server server is behind a firewall, you might not connect to it. You must have configured the firewall to allow connections on ports 5443 and 7828.

About this task

You can activate the auto-publishing option of publishing the test result report to the Unified Reporting dashboard by using the Project Settings page. When the auto-publishing option is activated, the test result report is automatically published to the Unified Reporting dashboard, whenever you run a test suite test.

You can also publish existing test result reports to the Unified Reporting dashboard. For information about how to publish existing test result reports, see Publishing existing test suite results to Unified Reporting.

Procedure

To automatically publish test result reports to the Unified Reporting dashboard from HCL OneTest API, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Project > Project Settings and then click the Server Settings tab.
  2. In the Unified Reporting panel, click the Publish result after execution check box.
  3. In the Publish to Project field, perform one of the following actions:
    • Select a project from the drop-down list that exists in the server. This action enables the test results to be published to the selected project.
    • If there are no projects to select or you want to create a new project, click New Project. As part of the publishing process, the new project is created on the server.
Note: Ensure that you click Publish results database connection so that the database connection details are copied to the HCL Quality Server server for the project and this database is used by the Unified Reporting dashboard to view the test results in a browser.
  4. Click OK.

    To run a test suite:

  5. From Test Lab, select the test suite that you want the test results for, right-click and then, click Run.

The selected test suite runs and the test result reports are published to the Unified Reporting dashboard.
