Preparing to record and virtualize Db2 activity in COBOL/PL/I on z/OS

Before you can record and virtualize DB2® activity in COBOL/PL/I application on z/OS® systems, you must start both components of the Compiled Language Interception Processor (CLIP) agent.

Before you begin

Install and configure both components of the Compiled Language Interception Processor. For more information, see Installing and configuring the Compiled Language Interception Processor (CLIP).

About this task

Both components of the Compiled Language Interception Processor must be started before you can record and virtualize Db2 on z/OS calls made by CICS® COBOL/PL/I programs. The CLIP agent consists of two components:
  • The CLIP agent back-end (probe), running on z/OS systems.
  • The CLIP agent front-end, running on Windows systems.
When both components are started, you can use HCL OneTest™ API to record and virtualize Db2 activity in COBOL/PL/I applications on z/OS.

Procedure

  1. Start the CLIP agent back-end (probe), running on z/OS, by using the following command.
    S RITMGR
Note: For more information on controlling the Compiled Language Interception Processor started task, see RITMGR Operator Commands
  2. Start the CLIP agent front-end, by using the following commands.
    cd Eclipse Classic installation folder\eclipse
    clip.bat options
Note: For more information on the available run-time options for the CLIP agent front-end, see CLIP command line options.
