Installing HCL OneTest API

Install HCL OneTest™ API by using IBM® Installation Manager.

Before you begin

  1. HCL Products and Platforms manages software licensing and downloads through the HCL License & Delivery Portal. You must have ordered software and followed the instructions that you received to activate your entitlement and download the software from the Portal. These instructions help you complete the following steps:
    1. Order the software. Gather the URL and login credentials for the HCL License & Delivery Portal.
    2. Log in to the Portal.
    3. Create a User associated with your account.
    4. Create a Device to host the license server and record the server ID that’s returned when the device is created.
Important: The server ID uniquely identifies your company’s entitlement and must be kept secure.
    5. Map your entitlement to the license server Device.
    6. Download the software.
  2. If not done already, install Oracle JRE (for Windows installation) or IBM JRE (for non-Windows installation), Version 8.

About this task

To install the product in silent mode, see Installing the software silently.

No direct upgrade paths to version 9.2.1.1 are supported. To upgrade one or more packages to version 9.2.1.1, uninstall any previously installed version and install version 9.2.1.1.

Procedure

  1. Start the installation.
  2. On the Install Packages page, select HCL OneTest API. Updates that have dependencies are automatically selected and cleared together.

To view all updates that are found for the available packages, select Show all versions and click Check for Other Versions, Fixes, and Extensions. You require your HCL License & Delivery Portal login credentials to view and install any newer packages or updates to the selected version of the software.

    Click Next.

  3. On the Licenses page, read the license agreement for the selected package. If you agree to the terms of all of the license agreements, click I accept the terms of the license agreements. Click Next.
  4. On the Location page, the location of the package group into which each product is to be installed is displayed. Click each product to see its package group location. Optionally, you can enter another location for the package group in the Installation Directory field. Click Next.
  5. Select the translations to install and click Next.
  6. On the Features page, select the package features to install.
    1. To see the dependency relationships between features, select Show Dependencies.
    2. Click a feature to view its brief description under Details.
    3. Select or clear features in the packages. Installation Manager automatically enforces any dependencies with other features and displays updated download sizes and disk space requirements for the installation.
    4. In the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) page, specify the location of the JRE to be used:
      • On Windows computers, Oracle JRE, version 8. For example, C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_162.
      • On non-Windows computers, IBM JRE, version 8. For example, /opt/ibm/java-x86_64-80/jre.

If the JRE location changes in the future, you might face problems with starting the component after the installation. To specify a new JRE location after the installation, use the Modify option in IBM Installation Manager.

    5. Click Next.
  7. On the Summary page, review your choices before you install the product package. To change the choices that you made on previous pages, click Back. When you are satisfied with your installation choices, click Install. A progress indicator shows the percentage of the installation that is completed. When the installation process is complete, a confirmation message is displayed.
  8. Click View log file to open the installation log file for the current session in a new window.

Alternatively, in IBM Installation Manager, go to File > View Log to verify if the installation was successful.

  9. Click Finish to start the selected package. The Install Package wizard closes and you are returned to Installation Manager.
